IS
THERE LIFE AFTER THE DOT-COM DOWNTURN FOR
NEW ENGLAND TECH COMPANIES?
National
Medal of Technology Winner Dean Kamen and Steve Randich,
Chief Technology Officer of NASDAQ, join other industry
leaders to discuss the regions’ next wave of technology
growth at FUTURE FORWARD 2001
BOSTON,
July 30, 2001 – Future Forward Events, LLC, today
announced that Dean Kamen, president of DEKA Research
& Development and Steve Randich, chief technology
officer of the Nasdaq Stock Market, will be among the
featured speakers at Future Forward: the New England
Technology Summit, to be held October 25-27, 2001 in
Woodstock, VT.
Future
Forward is an invitation-only gathering where the
technology leaders of New England will map the next
high-growth opportunities in technology. Created by the
same group that delivers the sold-out Nantucket Conference
each year, Future Forward exists to help make connections
between technology investors and innovators at companies
large and small.
“Despite
the dramatic market fluctuations we’ve seen lately, New
England has always been
- and will continue to be - a national leader in
technology development and innovation. We may not see
another boom as big as the Internet any time soon, but
we’ll certainly see smaller boomlets in areas like
robotics, 3-D design, and bioinformatics,” says Shayne
Gilbert, co-chair of Future Forward 2001.
“Future Forward will bring together our
region’s start-up superstars as well as those who excel
at using technology to help big companies win.”
In
addition to Kamen and Randich, other conference speakers
include:
-
Craig
Benson, co-founder of Cabletron, who recently
announced his candidacy for Governor of New Hampshire;
-
Bob
Davis, founding CEO of Lycos and a partner at Highland
Capital Ventures;
-
Bob
Crowley, President and CEO of Bowstreet;
